New Horizon Groove

Prompt

Sunshine-flecked horns and bouncing upright bass weave through skipping drum machines and bright synths, constructing a relentless feel-good groove that refuses to let you stand still. A woman sings about dancing at her own going-away party the night before she moves across the country, her joy so genuine it aches, while the backup vocal "don't go" echoes like the hometown she can't afford to love anymore, equal parts Nile Rodgers and a breakup letter to a place.

Lyrics

[Intro]

[Verse]
Last night was a blur of sound
Dancing 'til the morning light
Said goodbye to this old town
Didn't shed a single tear tonight
Packed my bags, I'm on my way
Chasing dreams in a brand new state
This hometown held me down too long
Time to sing a different song

[Pre-Chorus]
Bass is thumping, horns are bright
Synths are shining, pure delight
Can't believe I'm leaving here
But the future's crystal clear

[Chorus]
Oh, this is my going-away dance
Don't go, don't go, my hometown plea
Leavin' all the wasted chance
For a place that's meant for me
Yeah, the groove is strong, the beat is true
Dancing my way to something new

[Post-Chorus]
Don't go, don't go
Echoes in the air
Don't go, don't go
I just don't care

[Verse]
Remember all the Friday nights
Underneath the same old moon
Felt so trapped in fading lights
Always singing out of tune
But the rhythm starts to lift me high
A brand new feeling in the sky
This concrete jungle felt so small
Now I'm ready to give my all

[Pre-Chorus]
Bass is thumping, horns are bright
Synths are shining, pure delight
Can't believe I'm leaving here
But the future's crystal clear

[Chorus]
Oh, this is my going-away dance
Don't go, don't go, my hometown plea
Leavin' all the wasted chance
For a place that's meant for me
Yeah, the groove is strong, the beat is true
Dancing my way to something new

[Bridge]
It's a bittersweet goodbye
A tear I couldn't cry
This place was home, it's true
But it never felt brand new

[Instrumental]

[Chorus]
Oh, this is my going-away dance
Don't go, don't go, my hometown plea
Leavin' all the wasted chance
For a place that's meant for me
Yeah, the groove is strong, the beat is true
Dancing my way to something new

[Outro]
Don't go, don't go
New horizon groove
Don't go, don't go
Got nothing left to prove
